About NHHID
Platform for Scientists, Engineers, Technologists, Industrialists, Businessmen and Clinicians to promote and accelerate the development of healthcare instrumentation indigenously
The National Hub for Healthcare Instrumentation Development (NHHID) – a national facility to cater to the needs of healthcare instrumentation, was established in 2000... by the Department of Science and Technology under Technology Development & Transfer in Anna University with an initial 5-year grant of 12.4 Crores.
The hub serves as a platform for the integration of Scientists, Engineers, Technologists, Industrialists, Businessmen and Clinicians to promote and accelerate the development of healthcare instrumentation indigenously. Formed as a result of seamless collaboration between reputed National Institutes and R&D organisations, NHHID facilitates the transfer of basic research ideas from innovators both in academia and industry down the product commercialisation pipeline. The entire spectrum of any healthcare device development right from the concept generation to commercialisation stage is facilitated at the NHHID with its network of Research Institutions to Private biomedical companies. Research and Development, calibration, validation, prototype development, product development and commercialisation of healthcare instruments needed by the medical industry are catered to here.
If you look at history, innovation doesn’t come just from giving people incentives; it comes from creating environments where their ideas can connect. - Steve Johnson
NHHID strives to create such an environment where the bests of mind both from industry and academic labs can connect and facilitating their ideas to reach the market and thus serve society in their healthcare needs.
